Winter 2025 Summary
The Winter 2025 season has been one to remember at Abington Heights! Here’s a recap of the incredible accomplishments by our student-athletes and teams:
Winter 2025 Overall Record: 53 wins - 35 losses (.660 win percentage
BOYS BASKETBALL
Overall Record: 14-11
League Record: 10-4
- Boys Basketball- (14-11)(10-4) The Comets started off slow but kept pushing and finished their season with the 2 seed in district 2 5A. Their last game was 3/7 in the first round of states against Upper Moreland in a 57-60 loss. They had a great season winning the district championship and hosting the first round of states. Senior, Robby Lucas, had a stellar season reaching many milestones such as hitting 9 threes in one game going along with a 35 point performance, he reached the 1,000 point club against Valley View on Senior Night.
GIRLS BASKETBALL
Overall Record: 13-11
League Record: 8-5
- Girls Basketball- (13-11)(8-5) The Girls had a slow start but picked up the pace for their season fast. They ended their regular season with a win against West Scranton. They played North Pocono in the 1st round of District playoffs where Senior, Maggie Coleman, had a career night. She ended the night with 40 points and 12 3s marking a stamp in the books for her; the 12 threes gave her the most in Abington Heights School History. She previously beat the Girls record with 9, passing Amber Jacobs who had 8. She also reached 1,000 points in a 56-37 win against Wallenpaupack on January 23rd. She also has the most career 3 pointers in girls basketball history.
WRESTLING
Overall Record: 9-10
League Record: N/A
- Wrestling- (9-10) The Comets went 1-2 in their District Duals on January 29th and February 1st. They beat North Pocono in the 1st round 52-21, moving into the Semi-final round where they lost to Wallenpaupack 50-19. They returned to the mat on February 1st where they suffered another loss to Pittston Area 39-25, eliminating them from the tournament. They traveled to Wilkes-Barre Area HS for Individual Districts where two wrestlers placed, Brian Heard and Mason Whitney, Jake Schiavone and Luke Evans got 2nd, Keith Yusinski in 3rd, Chase Berry 4th, and Frank Schialpi 5th. Mason, Brian, and Jake all went to states on 3/6, 3/7, and 3/8. Brian took 5th, Mason took 8th, and Jake Schiavone was eliminated on the first day.
BOYS SWIM/DIVE
Overall Record: 9-1
League Record: N/A
- Boys Swim/Dive- (9-1) The Boys had a great season only losing one meet to Delaware Valley. They had multiple champions for swimming and held the top 3 stops for diving. The Swimmers being Derek Williams and Jason Casper, Divers being Micah White, Ryan Horutz, and Ethan Horutz. The two swimmers Jason and Derek along with Micah and Ryan for diving traveled to the state championships this past weekend and performed very well. Jason Placed 27th in the 200 free and 22nd in the 100 fly, Derek was 27th in the 50 free, Micah placed 20th, and Ryan placed 16th.
GIRLS SWIM/DIVE
Overall Record: 8-2

- Girls Swim/Dive- (8-2) The Girls had a great season only losing two meets to Delaware Valley and Elk Lake. At districts they had multiple Swimmers compete and become champions, those being Gia Vachino, Hadley Pallman, Katie Giermanski, and a relay team consisting of Kacey Johnson, Hadley Pallman, Audra Wimmer, and Gia Vachino. Gia Vachino is headed to states along with Audra Wimmer, Ella Bannon and Kacey Johnson. Over the weekend was states, the relay team did not place and neither did any of the individuals but they all swam great!
INDOOR TRACK

- Indoor Track- They completed their last event on Sunday, March 3rd. This was the PTFCA State Championships at Penn State University, Abington Heights had a pair of athletes compete at the Penn State Indoor State Championships. Abington Heights junior Anna Pucilowski finished 16th in the One Mile. She had a time of 5:12.52. Tomara Seid, an Abington Heights senior, finished 16th in the triple jump. She hit a distance of 35-1.25. Throughout the winter the team has continued to set new season best times and PRs, and most recently at the Garden State Invite at Ocean Breeze Park on Friday, February 14th, junior, Anna Pucilowski set a new indoor PR with a 5:04.74 which also set a new AH Indoor Record previously held be Katie Dammer (5:07.92).
UNIFIED BOCCE
Overall Record: 7-5
League Record: N/A
Team 1 ended the season with 3 wins and 3 losses. Team 2 ended with 4 wins and 2 losses. Team 2 advanced to the playoffs yesterday, Tuesday, 2/18 at Lakeland High School and finished 5th overall. The team had many highlights on their season, especially at their annual JAM THE GYM event on Tuesday, February 4th, where the Abington Heights Community, including many other sports teams and coaches, faculty and other spectators help to fill the gym and give our unified student-athletes the feeling of a “packed house” for their competition. It turned out to be a very successful day with both teams winning and the bleachers filled with fans to support our teams.
