Fall 2024 Summary
The Fall 2024 season has been one to remember at Abington Heights! Here’s a recap of the incredible accomplishments by our student-athletes and teams:
Fall 2024 Overall Record: 139 wins - 40 losses (.777 win percentage)
BOYS CROSS COUNTRY
Overall Record: 19-4
League Record: 19-4 (T-4th of 24 teams in Lackawanna League)
Boys Cross Country concluded their season with a strong 19-4 overall record and a 3rd place finish in the District Championship. Jack Shoemaker was named to the Lackawanna League's 2nd All-Star Team. Timmy Fogley earned a District Medal and qualified for the PIAA State Championship meet.
GIRLS CROSS COUNTRY
Overall Record: 23-0
League Record: 23-0 (Lackawanna League Champions)
Girls Cross Country extended their dominance with an undefeated 23-0 season, maintaining their league unbeaten streak at 146-0 since 2017. The team captured their 6th straight Lackawanna League Championship and placed 11th at States. Anna Pucilowski won her second consecutive individual District title and was named Lackawanna League Runner of the Year. District Medalists included Pucilowski, Calli Gilboy, Marley Gilboy, and Reese Morgan. Pucilowski, both Gilboys, and Morgan earned 1st Team All-Star honors, while Keira Crowell, Morgan Kresge, and Kenadi Lotz were named to the 2nd Team. The girls also claimed the Moravian Invitational Championship.
BOYS GOLF
Overall Record: 15-2
League Record: 10-2 (Lackawanna League Division 1 Champions)
Boys Golf had a historic season, setting new school records along the way. The team placed 4th in the PIAA Team State Championship, breaking the school record for the lowest team score at States with a 294 (+6). Individually, Cade Kelleher broke an 11-year school record with a two-day score of 141 (-3) at the State Tournament. Robert Bingham won the Selinsgrove Invitational, and Robert Lucas shot a school-record 29 (-7) during the season. This was the first year in school history with four individual state qualifiers: Kelleher, Bingham, Robert Munley, and Phillip Matthews.
GIRLS GOLF
Overall Record: 10-6
League Record: N/A
Girls Golf capped off their season with their first-ever District Championship, advancing to the District 2 Sub-Regional. Sophomore Liz George set a school record, shooting even par on the front 9 at Glen Oak, and earned Lackawanna League 1st Team All-Star honors. Brianna Moffatt and Kate Peters were Individual District qualifiers, with Moffatt earning 1st Team All-Star honors and Peters being named to the 2nd Team.
FIELD HOCKEY
Overall Record: 3-12
League Record: 1-9 (T-10th of 11 teams in Wyoming Valley Conference Division 1)
Field Hockey earned three hard-fought wins this season against Northwest Area, Wilkes-Barre Area, and Wallenpaupack. In the District playoffs, they battled Dallas in a close match but came up just short, losing 1-0.
FOOTBALL
Overall Record: 8-5
League Record: 3-3 (4th of 7 teams in Lackawanna League Division 1)
Football had a memorable season, finishing 8-5 and capturing the District 2 5A Championship with a 20-14 victory over Delaware Valley. This marked their first District title and State Playoff appearance since 2016. The Comets narrowly lost a thrilling first-round State Playoff game to Hollidaysburg, 24-23. Senior quarterback Nick Bradley became the school’s all-time leader in career passing yards and touchdowns, surpassing 4,000 career passing yards. The season was highlighted by the 200th career game for Head Coach Joe Repshis, who has led the program for 20 years.
BOYS SOCCER
Overall Record: 17-4
League Record: 13-1 (Lackawanna League Division 1 Champions)
Boys Soccer captured their 3rd consecutive Lackawanna League Division 1 title and finished as District 2 Class 3A runners-up. This marked their third straight district final appearance. Nico Bustos was named LIAA Division 1 MVP and selected for the PSCA All-State team. Additional All-Stars included Justin Kim, Michael Maldonado, Joey Pivirotto (1st Team), and Billy Johnson, Enzo Capozzi, and Michael Hiller (2nd Team).
GIRLS SOCCER
Overall Record: 17-2
League Record: 11-1 (Lackawanna League Division 1 Champions, in tie-breaker game)
Girls Soccer secured their 3rd straight Lackawanna League Division 1 title with a 1-0 tiebreaker win over Valley View. They advanced to the district semifinals after a first-round victory over Wallenpaupack. Junior Lilia Calvert made history, becoming the school’s all-time leader in goals and points, surpassing 100 career goals during the season.
GIRLS TENNIS
Overall Record: 16-2
League Record: 13-1 (2nd of 15 teams in Lackawanna League)
Girls Tennis had an exceptional season, winning the District 2 AAA Championship and advancing to the state quarterfinals. Individual honors included Susan Arp winning the Singles District Championship and the doubles team of Sona Hanumali and Mary Booth claiming the District Doubles title.
GIRLS VOLLEYBALL
Overall Record: 16-3
League Record: 13-2 (T-2nd of 16 teams in Lackawanna League)
Girls Volleyball advanced to the district semifinals after a strong season. Sophomore Brielle Wentz recorded 500 career assists and 100 season aces, ranking #1 in the state. Sadie O’Brien and Hilde Temblador each surpassed 100 kills, and Maddy Smith achieved 500 career digs. This season marked their first in the newly renovated AHHS Main Gym.
