Saturday, 12/5 was a great day for both the varsity and junior high teams in their season opening competitions. The varsity team left Wyalusing high School with a 3-2 record, securing 5th place of 11 teams. Everyone performed well against some tough teams. We looked like a team and a family as we battled, Waverly (NY), Tunkhannock, Shikellamy, Elk Lake, and Lackawanna Trail. At this point, this is the first time that the varsity team has had a winning record since 2008! Big contributors to the team's success were Nick Carr (5-0), Owen Hivner (4-0), Noah Sirianni (3-1), Chris Langan (3-2), and Adam Wellard (3-2). Also, Anthony Kimble (3-2) and Sam Northup (3-2) earned their first wins in competition as first year wrestlers!
The jr. high wrestling team left Lackawanna Trail's gym with a 4-1 team record and a second place trophy. On their way to the finals, the jr. high team secured wins over Lackawanna Trail, Meyers, Scranton, and Valley View.
